- Colloquy on Psychoanalysis and the Humanities resumes its activities with a proposed theme of "Nature, Human Nature, and the Religious Impulse." Kick-off conversations will center around Erich Fromm's fusion of psychoanalysis with social history and humanism in a particularly accessible way. A general interest meeting will be Thursday, Feb 5 from 3-5pm in UC room 216. Dr Gene Bocknek will begin with some comments on Fromm's "You Shall be as Gods," and then let our conversations lead where they may!

- "Nature, Human Nature, and the Religious Impulse" is the current topic of the University Studies Interdisciplinary Colloquy on Psychoanalysis and the Humanities. Professor Gene Bocknek (past President of the Appalachian Psychoanalytic Society) will lead us in a critical and free-wheeling reading of Erich Fromm's classic, "You Shall Be as Gods."
JOIN us on Wed. Feb 25 at 2:00 pm in UC Rm 218 as we explore Fromm's reading about the transformations in the sense of self in relationship to one's sense of religious or spiritual authority. Copies of the book are available for use at each meeting.
