BY-LAWS
THE UNIVERSITY STUDIES PROGRAM
consists of current faculty, emeritus faculty, and collaborating colleagues who have joined with one another to explore and possibly transcend the disciplinary boundaries that define and sometimes constrain them.

I
. The
University Studies faculty
consists of those individuals who have been involved in a University course or colloquy in the preceding three years. A faculty meeting will be called at least once yearly. A yearly written report of program activities will be published following the yearly meeting
II.
The program will make a
yearly award
to a faculty member for distinguished contributions to interdisciplinary scholarship. The
University Studies Advisory Committee
will consist of University Studies faculty who have received the award. The recipient of the award will be chosen by the University Studies Advisory Committee.
III.
The program will be governed by an
Executive Committee
consisting of the four most recent recipients of the award for distinguished contributions to interdisciplinary scholarship who are willing to serve, plus a Chair.
IV.
The Program Chair
will serve for a three year renewable term. The Chair will not receive remuneration for serving but will be authorized to spend a maximum of $1500 in professional travel or other forms of professional development. The Chair will be authorized to allocate The University Studies budget to the various program activities.
V.
In consultation with the Advisory Committee and subject to the approval of the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, in the last year of a Chairs term the Executive committee will select a
Chair-elect
from among former winners of the award for contributions to interdisciplinary scholarship.
VI.
These by laws are
subject to revision by the University Studies Advisory Committee.
Revisions are subject to the approval of the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs.
